AMSA XX: Call for Proposals for 2012 Conference Now Available

June 29, 2011

The American Men’s Studies Association (AMSA) invites proposals for its 20th Annual Interdisciplinary Men and Masculinities Conference to be held in Minneapolis, Minnesota, March 29th – April 1st, 2012.

Three kinds of submissions will be considered: 1) Individual presentations (20 minutes allotted), 2) Panel presentations of three or four papers on a specific topic or theme, (90 minutes allotted), and 3) Poster presentations. Proposals should address the conference theme or engage other topics relevant to the critical study of men and masculinities. We invite proposals from students, scholars, practitioners, activists, and other individuals interested in men’s studies and the critical examination of men’s lives and identities as men. Presentations from other venues (i.e., art, films, etc) will also be considered.

AMSA conference presenters typically come from academic, clinical, educational and social services and related fields but are not limited to these areas. Presentations must be based upon fully developed work or ongoing projects grounded in theoretical, clinical, educational, or research-related applications. The conference provides a welcoming interdisciplinary forum in which to contribute and receive support for work related to men and masculinities.

Proposals are to be submitted online using the 2012 Conference Page. The deadline for submissions is October 31, 2011.
