What Makes a Mature Man?

I've been posting article and stuff for quite a while now on how men can be more mature, more balanced, healthier, and so on. Now I want to hear from you.

What makes a man mature and integrated? What qualities, traits, perspectives does it take to make a man fully mature and evolved?

Please leave me your thoughts in the comments. I would love to hear from men and women, so please share this question with your friends, partners, and so on.

Please forward this to anyone who might want to share their views, or pass it along on Twitter or Facebook.

Thanks in advance.

Three models have really helped me wrap my head around what "maturity" really is. Basically, as we mature, we face different crises and are challenged to learn new virtues in this order: Hope, will, purpose, competence, fidelity, love, caring, and finally wisdom.

Joseph Campbell's Hero's Journey is a summation of many different culture's myths, and follows the hero as he departs from his comfortable home, is initiated into a new world, and after much turmoil returns with the message he has learned.

Lastly, Stephen Covey talks of the process of moving from dependence, to independence, to interdependence.

I think they are all saying the same thing. Maturity is a process where you move from being comfortable, dependent on others, and passive in your life. Then you become active, learn, and develop yourself to the strongest you can be. Lastly, the final stage of maturity is giving back to the world with all the knowledge and wisdom you have acquired over the previous stages.
